Talk TitleLow-Probability-of-Detection Communication and Its Applications in UAV Networks


Talk Abstract: This talk first covers the key features of low-probability-of-detection (LPD) communication and discusses various important design considerations, including but not limited to, basic models of LPD communication, its differences relative to physical layer security, different covertness constraints, optimal detector issues, and its optimization frameworks. Then, this talk presents three different application scenarios of LPD communication in UAV networks. We briefly present how to determine the UAV’s optimal transmit power, height, and trajectory for conducting LPD communication. Finally, we identify the key challenges in the design of practical LPD communication systems and point out future research directions in this context.


English Bio of Shihao Yan:Shihao Yan received the Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, in 2015. He received the B.S. in Communication Engineering and the M.S. in Communication and Information Systems from Shandong University, Jinan, China, in 2009 and 2012, respectively. From 2015 to 2017, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Research School of Engineering, The Australian National University, Canberra, Australia. He is currently a Research Fellow in the School of Engineering, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. He has published more than 30 IEEE Transactions, out of which more than 10 are first-authored. He is currently an Editor of IEEE Access and Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies. His current research interests are in the areas of wireless communications and statistical signal processing, including physical layer security, covert communications, and location spoofing detection.


颜世豪中文简介:颜世豪分别于2009年和2012年在山东大学信息科学与工程学院取得通信工程本科学位和通信与信息系统硕士学位,于2015年在澳大利亚新南威尔士大学电子工程与通信学院取得电子工程博士学位;20158月至20181月,在澳大利亚国立大学工程研究院做博士后;20181月至今,在澳大利亚麦考瑞大学工程学院做博士后研究员。主要从事无线通信安全方面的研究,包括隐蔽通信、位置信息验证、及物理层安全。到目前为止在通信领域国际顶级期刊发表期刊论文30余篇,其中IEEE高引用论文一篇,第一作者期刊论文14篇。在通信领域国际顶级会议如IEEE ICCIEEE GLOBECOM发表论文28篇。另外发表书目章节一篇。目前担任IEEE AccessTransactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies编辑,同时担任过IEEE GLOBECOM 2018物理层安全方向的分会主席,IEEE VTC智能交通方向的分会主席成员,IEEE 澳洲首都特区学生分会主席,以及通信领域国际顶级期刊与会议的审稿人。
